Three injured; one airlifted in Clear Lake crash
POLK COUNTY - The 17-year-old driver of a van and two of his passengers were taken to an area hospital following a rollover crash Friday afternoon, July 5 at the intersection of Hwy. 63 and CTH F near Clear Lake.
One of the passengers, Justin A. Paulson, 23, of Clear Lake, was airlifted to Regions Hospital in St. Paul where he remains hospitalized this week.
According to a report from the Polk County Sheriff’s Department, the 17-year-old driver, Jonathon D. Bauerfield of Clear Lake, was driving the van eastbound on F when it left the south edge of the pavement, entered the ditch, struck a driveway embankment and became airborne. When the van landed, it began to roll and then struck a U-Haul rental truck parked in a parking lot, eventually coming to rest suspended against a power pole.
Bauerfield, Paulson and another passenger, Jasmyn M.A. Albrecht-Syvinski, 18, of Rice Lake, were all transported to Amery Regional Medical Center for treatment of their injuries. Paulson was then airlifted to Regions.
The accident was reported to authorities at 2:02 p.m. Sheriff’s deputies, along with Clear Lake police, fire and ambulance and Wisconsin State Patrol, were dispatched to the scene. Extrication was required.
