 | | Keith Kennedy | Gary King 22.JUN.08 GRANTSBURG - One hour before they were to call off the search for Keith Kennedy, he was found - alive.
A St. Paul firefighter found Kennedy at approximately 7 p.m. near a creek off of CTH O, about a mile west of the Trade Lake Camp, where he was reported missing exactly one week ago.
A four-wheel drive pickup truck had to be used to rescue Kennedy, who is autistic. The 25-year-old walked away from the camp which specializes in programs for mentally handicapped adults, was airlifted to University Hospital in Minneapolis where he has received medical care since his kidney transplant 14 years ago.
The St. Paul firefighter who found Kennedy was among 70 firefighters, police, DNR and EMS personnel who followed Burnett County Sheriff's Chief Deputy Don Taylor back to an area that had been searched three times before.
Taylor said "I'm going back in," inviting anyone who wanted to follow. READ FULL STORY: |
