Mark Pettis Burnett County Board candidate • District 18
I am running for the county board to bring my eight years of experience as a state legislator and use that experience to help make Burnett County a better place. Getting people to agree on the issues at hand and solutions to situations that come up is my goal as a county board supervisor.
Looking at the past term of the current county board, I feel that they could have done a better job at reaching solutions to problems. The removal of the past county administrator consumed more time than it should have, and it appeared that a decision on the communication towers could not be reached in a timely manner. I disagreed with the thought of moving our dispatch center to Polk County this was in my opinion the wrong solution for upgrading our dispatch center. I felt that if the dispatch center was moved to Polk County and if Polk County voided the contract in the future Burnett County would have had to purchase new equipment as well as space to place the center at considerable cost to the county
Burnett County has good employees and every effort should be made to create a friendly work environment through open communication lines. The taxpayers of Burnett County deserve to have a county board that works in their best interest and the employees of Burnett County deserve to have employment free from hostility.
No election should be held with only one choice for the voters to choose from. I am providing the opportunity to the voters of District 18 to decide if they are content with the incumbent or believe I can use my experience and do a better job of representing them.
