Letters - Spring election - 2014
Former supervisor backs candidates
To my constituents in the village and town of Balsam Lake: I would like to personally thank each and every one of you for your support over the last six years as your representative to the Polk County Board of Supervisors, District 10.
I have worked hard over this period of time to keep the county financially accountable and sound; keeping important programs, based on my constituents' wishes, while reducing others that were not mandated and could be better served by private resources. Since the new county redistricting, reducing from 23 to 15 county board members, it will be a new challenge for the board to implement new, commonsense strategies in how Polk County is to be run in the future.
Thank goodness we have a great county administrator who has been a pleasure to work with!
First thing all the voters need to do is elect the people that will help create this new board on April 1. I am giving my support to Ken Sample, new District 6 (towns of Balsam Lake, Apple River and Georgetown) and Josh Hallberg, new District 4 (village of Balsam Lake and Milltown). Please get out and VOTE! There was not a very good turnout for the primary on Feb. 18, 2014. I will be involved in our county government and look forward to supporting the board for commonsense, responsible management.
