Spring, 2014 | ELECTION WATCH
Letters - Spring election - 2014
No Koch Bros. here
Regarding the letters from the week of March 17, I am reminded of an letter I wrote on how information has changed and how it can be distributed. The letter was titled There goes Free Speech 08-16-2010. In that letter I referred you to the Government Accountability web site.
“The entire text of the G.A.B. 1 Rule can be found here (Sections 1.10, 1.28, and 1.42 are most revealing):
That letter was to show what happens when the government tells it citizens how and what they can say or do. Before we had slander and libel laws covering spoken and printed statements; that, you would think, would be enough - if you spread untruths you should be held accountable.
It is not surprising that a local group of citizens have formed a group to champion a cause they believe in, that of putting Polk County back to work (Plausible? Yes). The stated unemployment rate for the county is 6.5 percent. That may be counting those who are on the unemployment list; I think it’s much higher when adding in those who are no longer getting benefits but still looking for work. But that’s how the government counts.
In starting such a group these local taxpaying, voting citizens are exercising their right to free speech. They have elected to form a legal entity which is how you are now supposed to do it.
There are no Koch Bros. here, and there’s no Soros, Buffett or Moore money behind this, not even the unions that spend so much money in Madison. They are not busing in out-of-area or state people to raise Cain. The only thing from out of state they want is jobs.
Oh, by the way, Larry, just because the name has an “Inc” behind it does not mean it is national organization. I’m however surprised you don’t know that.
