Don Taylor (incumbent) Burnett County Board candidate • District 18
I have proudly served on the board and as County Board Chairman the past four years. The work has been both rewarding and challenging. The board has become more involved and more informed regarding the issues facing Burnett County. Along the way we have made some important steps in securing the future for our grandchildren.
The board has developed a Capital Improvement Plan and Debt Policy to guide us in the future. In this day of cuts to state and federal support we need to plan what we will be able to do as far to the future as we can. We have begun to work harder on improving county roads. A million dollars was devoted in 2013 and another will be spent this year to do just that. It is not enough but we do what we can do. Burnett County is taking a proactive stance in regards to our declining infrastructure. Low revenue has been and will continue to be our biggest challenge. Economic hardship has also hit our tax base. Until such time as the economy improves we will continue to keep the belt snug and provide those services that our citizens really need. How the revenue comes in down the road will determine how long we can continue that course. But Burnett County will continue to do the best job with the tools available.
As a life-long resident of Burnett County; following graduation from Webster High School and 3 years service in the Army, I served Burnett County with the Sheriff’s Department for over 31 years; I appreciate the time and dedication of our supervisors. Meetings require significant preparation time for all. We care about our citizens and our visitors. Together we will keep Burnett County moving forward while never forgetting our past.
